Let’s Settle The Kirk Cousins, Case Keenum Debate

I think there are a number of good arguments either way that make this interesting, let’s examine that:

Kirk Cousins has more years under his belt so you might say he’s the easy choice but let’s look deeper. Case actually enjoyed some success on a Texans team with very little support, but his real big shot came with Minnesota. Here he thrived making big plays and fighting each and every down.

I think Keenum has this fight and will, allowing him to come up with key plays like no other, which is partly why he’s already enjoyed more playoff success than Kirk. That’s not say Kirk doesn’t have or do this, but Keenum really excels in this area which can’t be defined by numbers. There was a number of examples of this, for example check the majority of his runs for first downs, his elusivensss in the pocket which leads to big plays and (OF COURSE!) the Minneapolis Miracle!

Having said that let’s also take a look at numbers too:
Kirk Cousins – 64.3% 4,093 yards 27 TDs 13 INTs 93.9 QBR
Case Keenum – 67.6% 3,547 Yards 22 TDs 7 INTs 98.3 QBR

The numbers are not too disimilar. I think if you’re looking for consistency Kirk has more experience and has shown he can do it year after year, however Keenum was fantastic last season, and if you’re willing to take the risk he could become a real great!

What do you guys think? Who would you like me to cover next?
