What Does The Future Hold For Both Kawhi Leonard & DeMar Derozan?

I actually detailed on my Instagram in the post where I broke the news, my feelings on what this means for both players.

I think Kawhi has shown that he is both stubborn and willing to sit out (to get his way of playing in LA). He’s already expressed he has no desire to play in Toronto and I’ll be surprised if he doesn’t sit out again.

I think this will largely damage his career, as teams will be scared off due to his bad attitude. On top of that two years away from the highest level of play is a lot, so even if a team does take a risk on him, don’t expect him to be the same guy he once was. If this is the case he may have to swallow his pride and sign anywhere that will take him, especially as LA may not be interested after this saga.

Personally I think he’s damaging his own career, as these decisions could well lead to him being out of the league in the next few years. If he does want to be great again he will have to buck up his ideas and make it work in Toronto, at least for a season.

Now don’t get me started on DeMar Derozan and this disgraceful move by the Raptors. Staying objective I do think he will be a great fit for the Spurs. LaMarcus Aldridge did a great job carrying the Spurs last season and putting the team on his back, I feel like adding DeMar pushes them right into contention as he and DeMar will have a connection similar to that of Dame and Aldrigde, once upon a time.

The sad part of this is that it came at the betrayal of a teams hero, and more than that it begs that question what are the Raptors doing?! They’ve parted ways with the coach of the year, then traded a beloved franchise star who gave them everything. Oh and you think that’s bad..nope it’s worse, they actually promised DeMar that his place on the team was safe!

No loyalty at all, I feel bad for DeMar (much like I do for Isaiah Thomas) who has improved each year and even taken massive pay cuts for the team. This is how they reward that? One thing is certain, the Raptors have a lot to answer for!
